Thailand Continues to be AMAZING!

A Postcard from Uncle Ted in Thailand, July 2011

Now that most of the political dust has settled and the season is low, it’s really time for you to think about coming back to Thailand.

The sun is bright; the sand is white (and empty!) and, in August, there’s a very good reason to make the journey.

On two very special nights in August, a Michelin-star chef from Paris will be working his culinary magic at the celebrated Farang Ses restaurant in Chiang Mai’s Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi.

Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi (see my story here) was voted as the top resort for service overall by the readers of Travel & Leisure Magazine, June 2011 - “Number 1 in service world wide.”

On 12th and 13th August 2011, Chef Christopher Hache, from Hotel de Crillon in Paris, will offer a wonderful gastronomic experience - a six course menu that promises to delight the culinary senses.

It is a masterful lineup of Atlantic sea bass carpaccio with crustacean, fennel and vanilla-infused grape seed oil;
Canadian lobster flavored with lemon balm and gnocchi, Provençal style;
Duck liver from Landes in casserole;
Roasted lamb rack wrapped in crispy angel hair with organic quinoa and melted eggplant;
ending with a raspberry tartlet with lemon cream, and homemade mignardises.

The resort is also offering a special “Michelin Star Package” – one night accommodation in a Colonial Suite, dinner for two at Farang Ses with Chef Christopher, and a sumptuous buffet breakfast the following day @Baht 16,600++ applicable on the nights of 12 or 13 August 2011.

For more information and/or reservation, please call Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi, Chiang Mai, tel. +66 5388 8888 or
