A three-minute read

Dear Ted,

Carol and I really enjoyed being together with you and look forward to seeing you on our next visits to Bangkok – hopefully this summer and again this fall… we’ll give you plenty of notice when organizing our plans. You do the dinner and we will bring the wines….

I promised to give you a review of our five-day visit to Trisara… although my writing is not professional, this will give you an overview of our holiday…I expect you will need to “Clean up” my notes.

Only an hour flight from the smog, traffic, and hectic Bangkok life, lays the tranquility of Phuket Island just off the southwest coast of Thailand. With several up-market resorts to offer you the relaxation you desire, you will find the new Trisara the ultimate in serenity and beauty.

Trisara is the dream and realization of Anthony Lark, the former General Manager of Amanpuri, Phuket. He has taken with him the wonderful features of the original Aman resort and updated and improved them for today’s lifestyle.

Upon arrival to the 40-plus-acre property along the Andaman Sea, you immediately take in the Thai architecture and landscaping that reads as one.

Each of the totally-private, 40 villas, faces the sea, with extra large rooms and thoroughly modern facilities.

Although the villas are fashioned in beautiful traditional Thai style interiors, 21st-century conveniences are also built in–40” plasma TV, Bose CD/DVD player, and both Ethernet and wireless Internet connections that really fly!

Outside each villa is a totally private, large, swimming pool, something like 13’ x 33’ with zero-edge waterfall effect as you lean against the edge, with your favorite cool drink, glowing from the spectacular Andaman sunset.

The outdoor teak furniture and decks have been allowed to age a natural grey color – blending in perfectly with the traditional Thai-style of the property. The concealed outdoor shower with overhead rain fixture provides a soothing and sensual experience.

The Thai-style Spa consists of six private rooms where one may enjoy a private massage overlooking the beautiful property and Andaman Sea. This is the ultimate in relaxation and Thai harmony.

With the option of any or all meals served inside your own villa, or outside at the open-air or inside air conditioned dining rooms, you have many choices of creative and delicious western or Thai dishes at every meal.

Trisara is arguably one of the most beautiful and romantic resorts in the world.

Best wishes to you,

From Ted:
Not surprisingly, Douglas, a very successful business man, writes very well; no “cleaning up” necessary.

I first met Anthony Lark and his charming wife at Amanpuri in 1988.

I knew his extensive Rolodex would stand him in good stead; and, reading Douglas’ letter, it’s certainly time I flew over to experience Trisara for myself.

Carol and Douglas have been travelling to Thailand for many years. Two weeks ago we dined at Spice Market in the Four Seasons, Bangkok—perhaps the best Thai food in Bangkok—and jovially bantered about their recent wonderful trip to the Four Seasons Tented Camp in the Golden Triangle where they were coddled by Jason Friedman, the Camp Manager. As with so many of my passing-through friends—my mother always referred to such peripatetic folk as “visiting firemen,”—this whole land seems golden.

All the best,

Uncle Ted
