Careyes

December 7, 2004

Dear Ted,

First of all, I had never been to your web site before and what an
absolute delight it is.

I really enjoyed 40 years in 40 minutes.

I saw your article on Careyes, a place which I dearly love, and thought you might find some of these tidbits interesting.

First the El Careyes under Starwood Luxury Collection management is the best it has ever been. It used to be the "weak link" in the Careyes equation but has vastly improved.

Careyes however continues to be about the life or party life that goes
on in the villas and at the Playa Rosa Club, which also has a new
manager, Augusto, previously of Hotelito Desconocito, and is also much
improved.

Perhaps the biggest news is that a Careyes resident bought the Club Med to tear down and replace with his private home.

There have always been a lot of great villas in Careyes, but one of the newest entries, which is also for rent, is a 6 on a scale of 5. Casa Triton was designed by Marco Aldaco who did the original houses in Careyes 30 years ago. The house has 270° views of the ocean and with the cliff side setting it is almost an acrophobic experience, but in a good way. Aldaco has sited every room to the views, to the point you could just lay in bed all day and look at the ocean and garden and tropical birds. Can you tell that I was impressed? It honestly is the most beautiful villa I have ever seen. (photo attached).

Best Regards,
Wayne
